What? A
blogpost without pictures of a nice blue sea?!! Yes, in this blog post we will
show you that everything else can be experienced in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Party animal
Have you
never been invited for a wedding? Were you sick during Christmas and with
new years eve last year? Or do you just want to experience such a party again
with unknown people? This is possible in club Purga and this party does not have to
take place in December: every evening is a party in one of these themes.
Friends of
ours have been there and they described this evening as ‘never experienced
before, weird, Vodka and eccentric people’. We are not sure what the main
reason was for this description; the large quantity of drinks or because
everyone had to create his own bunny suit with paper mache…
Another
awesome alternative is the Metro Club. This is a club in an old metro centre.
Culture
The culture
lover will also be ‘pleased’ after visiting Saint Petersburg. Saint Petersburg
is one of the old capitals of Russia and has a marvelous architecture from the
18th and 19th century. It has huge buildings but also
small, cute streets surrounded by canals.
When you
want to experience some culture, you could visit the following places:
Hermitage
Normally it
is irritating when someone disturbs you or ask you if you could use some help.
In this situation, it is recommended to make use of the applications of the
tour guides outside. In this way, the waiting time is reduced and you get
inside information which you would not get when you walk in the museum on your
own.
Russian museum
Not that
popular as the hermitage, but also worth while visiting.
Canal cruise
Saint
Petersburg is just like Amsterdam surrounded by canals. Tickets are very cheap
and for the culture and party lover:
you can party the whole night on the boat and you are allowed to take your own
drinks with you! You can entrance the boat at the canal nearby the metro station
‘Nevsky Prospeckt’.
The impressive Smolny
monastery
Backpacker
Saint
Petersburg has two faces: the rich, outstanding centre full with touristic hotspots
and the poor slums. For backpackers ideal, because you can explore the real
Russia. Furthermore, things are very cheap around here! You can come here by
metro, exit station Pionerskaya and take the tram to Ploshchad Muzhestva. We recommend you to not do this trip alone in
the dark!
