Have you
ever dreamed of traveling through Australia? In
this blog post we will share a travel story about how to experience Australia
with your own ‘Wicked Van’. Furthermore, you can find out which destination you
should definitely not forget to visit while traveling from Sydney to Cairns.
Traveling around Australia
Australia is known as the most
popular backpacking destination of the world. A popular route to travel around
Australia is at the east side, where you can travel from Melbourne to Sydney,
Brisbane and Cairns. Two years ago, a friend* of ours traveled from Sydney to
Cairns and mentioned one of his best experiences during this trip, namely: Seal Rocks, New South Wales.
Below, you can read his travel story and where to find this ultimate
destination.
Stage 1: from Sydney to Seal Rocks
“A few days ago we arrived in this
amazing metropolis, which has impressed me a lot. Our plan is very easy: in
eight weeks we want to reach Cairns. How we get there and what to do: we have no idea. One thing is for sure; after sleeping four nights in a hostel at
Bondi Beach, I look forward to drive in our ‘own’ Wicked Camper Van. A small but cozy minivan converted to a camper,
which includes a bed, kitchen and loads of storage
space. But most striking is the artwork on the Van. In my opinion, this is one of the best and most affordable ways to experience
Australia.
Once we left with the Wicked Van we end up in the chaos of traffic in Sydney.
Driving left, steering right, accelerating left: mad house... While driving at the Harbour Bridge, besides the Opera
House, we felt the ultimate feeling of freedom. On the road together, ready for
adventure and full confidence we leave Sydney and drive on the Pacific Highway
heading to Seal Rocks, the destination of our first
stage. An Australian guy of about 60 years old,
recommended us to visit this unseen destination, which can be reached in a five
hour drive north of Sydney.
After leaving the Pacific Highway,
we headed to the coast. We expect it will now take approximately 30
minutes to reach the campsite. After driving two hours through winding roads
and deep dark forests, we finally reach Seal Rocks. The view is totally worth
the long drive. We are driving our Van to the beach and there is barely anybody
to see: only a mini supermarket and a small campsite with a few people. We open
our coolbox and grab two ice cold Tooheys
New cans out of it and we see the sun slowly sink into the
deep blue Tasman Sea. The first stage was completed
and many beautiful stages would follow.” *Experienced by Rein
